Melissa Isaacson, author of State: A Team, a Triumph, a Transformation, will appear at a special event at the library sponsored by the Arlington Heights Memorial Library Foundation. State tells the story of how the 1979 Niles West women’s basketball team, including Melissa Isaacson, won the Illinois state championship. Isaacson’s first high school coach was former Arlington Heights mayor Arlene Mulder. The victory came shortly after the passage of Title IX, a historic law that required equal treatment of male and female athletes in federally funded programs.
Meet Isaacson and Mulder for an evening of memories. Books will be available for purchase and signing; a portion of book sales will benefit the Foundation.
Hendrickson Room doors open and seating will be available at 6:30 p.m. Additional free parking is available in the Vail commuter lot across the street from the library.
Donations to the Foundation in honor of Mulder or Isaacson are welcomed but not required at this event. For more information about the Foundation, visit https://www.ahmlfoundation.org/
